Comfort Catering

“Comfort food and economy are all the rage,” says Cynthia Creighton-Jones of Cape Creations Catering. “From PBJ action stations — featuring the lunchbox classic alongside a warm peanut butter, honey and applewood smoked bacon sandwich — to mac ‘n’ cheese on spoons, we are taking classic comfort foods and giving them a fun twist.”

Creighton-Jones also notes requests for less expensive cuts of meat, “for example, the teres major, which is the shoulder tender and the second most tender part of the beef after the tenderloin. Because of its size (approximately 8-10 ounces), it works very well for seated dinners, including dual entrees — and all for a fraction of the cost.”

Memorable Motifs

“I literally get three or four requests a week for my Spanish moss invitation,” marvels Emily McCarthy of Emma J Design, who notes that local motifs are becoming popular with destination and native brides alike.

“I’m currently working on developing my Savannah collection, including ironwork from gates and gardens around town.”
