Allison Hersh Bio

A nationally-published writer and freelance journalist with long-standing relationships with tourism and luxury lifestyle publications, Allison Hersh proudly serves as the Vice President of Media Relations for Abshire Public Relations. She has been with the firm since its inception, overseeing media strategy, pitches, follow-up and media relations.

Allison has successfully coordinated press trips for Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina; Salkehatchie, South Carolina; and the Kessler Collection in Savannah, Georgia.

The former editor of Savannah Scene and Lowcountry Lifestyles, Allison brings an intimate knowledge of the area’s hospitality industry to the table. A former board member for the Savannah Area Tourism Leadership Council, Allison was named the TLC’s Member of the Year in 2006. She currently serves on the board of directors for the Flannery O’Connor Childhood Home in Savannah and recently coordinated national media coverage for the 2010 National Book Award finalists announcement in Savannah.

As a writer, Allison’s work has been published in major national magazines including Southern Living, Coastal Living and Better Homes & Gardens. She is also an accomplished arts writer and contributes feature stories locally to Savannah Magazine and the Savannah Morning News.

Originally from Miami, Florida, Allison earned a Ph.D. in English Language and Literature from the University of Michigan and a B.A. in English from the University of Texas before moving to Savannah in 1994.
