SAVANNAH, Ga. – HunterMaclean, a leading business law firm with offices in Savannah and Brunswick, is pleased to announce that partner David F. Sipple has been invited to be a charter member of the Sir Francis Drake Admiralty and Maritime Inn of Court being established by the Charleston School of Law and the Charleston Maritime Law Institute.
The purpose of the Sir Francis Drake Admiralty and Maritime Inn of Court is to unite experienced admiralty lawyers to exchange information related to maritime law practice and to mentor younger members of the Admiralty Bar. Admiralty attorneys along the East coast, from Jacksonville, Fla. to Baltimore, Md., are among the invitees.
A partner at HunterMaclean’s Savannah office, Sipple is admitted to practice in the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit, and the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Northern Districts of Georgia. He is a member of the Savannah Bar Association, the American Bar Association and the State Bar of Georgia.
Sipple is a member of the Maritime Law Association of the United States, serving on both the Committee on Marine Ecology and Criminal Law and the Committee on Marine Torts and Casualties. He is the immediate past chairman of the Southeastern Admiralty Law Institute and serves on the Maritime Law Committee for the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel.
He is an associate editor of the legal publication American Maritime Cases and has served in that capacity since 1997. He is also a past member of the Board of Directors of the International Seamen’s House, past president of the Propeller Club of the Port of Savannah and past president of the Hibernian Society of Savannah.
Sipple graduated from the University of Georgia with a B.A. in 1966 and a Masters in Public Administration in 1969 before earning a J.D., cum laude, from Mercer University Law School in 1972.
